Privacy Policy
Effective 13 October 2026
There is no account, no analytics and no advertising. Your
study progress never leaves your iPhone. One screen — the tutor — sends the
question you type to our server so it can be answered; nothing else in the
app uses the internet at all.
What we collect
No personal data. There is no sign-in, no profile and no advertising,
attribution or analytics SDK of any kind. We never sell anything to anyone.
The one exception is the tutor, and only while you are using it. See below.
The tutor
If you tap Ask the tutor, the app sends to our server: the question
you typed, which question of the app's own material you were looking at, the
language of the screen, and a random identifier that the app generates on your
iPhone the first time you use the tutor. That identifier is not your Apple ID,
not your device's advertising identifier and not anything Apple gives us: it is
a random string whose only job is to count how many questions have been asked
from one iPhone today, so that one person cannot use up the daily allowance for
everybody.
Our server answers using the app's own study material and keeps, for that
purpose: the answer it produced, a fingerprint (a one-way hash) of the request
so the same question does not have to be answered twice, that random
identifier, the date, and how long the answer took. We do not keep a copy of
your typed question as text, and we have no way of connecting any of it to you
as a person.
Do not type personal details, names, addresses or anything confidential into
the tutor: treat it like asking a question out loud on a job site.
You can also speak the question instead of typing it. The
recording is turned into text on your iPhone: the audio is
never sent to us, to Apple or to anyone else. If your iPhone cannot recognise
the chosen language without sending the audio away, the app tells you and
dictation stays off rather than doing it. What leaves the phone is the text,
exactly as if you had typed it.
The answering is done by a language model run under our own account. The
text of the request is processed by Anthropic's Claude for that purpose and is
not used to train anyone's model. If you never open the tutor, none of this
happens and the app makes no network requests at all.
What the app stores on your device
The app keeps your study progress — which questions you have answered, how
you graded yourself, your review schedule, your exam date and your settings —
in its own container on your iPhone. Only the app can read it. It is included
in your iPhone backup (iCloud or local, whichever you use), and Apple's own
privacy terms govern that backup. We have no access to it.
Tracking
The app does not track you. It does not use the advertising identifier, it
does not build a profile, it does not follow you across apps or websites, and
it shares nothing with data brokers.
Children
The app is a study aid for adults and apprentices. Nothing in it asks for
anyone's personal details, at any age.
Third parties
The app embeds no third-party SDKs. Our server reaches the language model
that answers tutor questions (Anthropic's Claude) and sits behind Cloudflare,
which carries the connection. Apple provides the App Store download and any
purchase or crash reporting you have consented to in your own iOS settings;
that relationship is between you and Apple and is governed by Apple's privacy
policy.
Deleting your data
Delete the app from your iPhone. That removes your study progress, which
only ever existed there, and the random tutor identifier with it. To have the
tutor records tied to that identifier deleted from our server, write to us
with it (Settings shows it) and we will delete them.
Your rights
Rights such as access, correction, portability, erasure and objection under
the GDPR, the CCPA and comparable laws apply to data a company holds about
you. The only thing we hold is the tutor records described above, which are
not tied to a person; write to us and we will confirm what exists for a given
identifier, or delete it.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the revised version will be posted here with a
new effective date. Material changes will also be described in the app's
release notes.
